Warbirds Over Wanaka - 2024
I managed to get over to New Zealand to witness the Warbirds Over Wanaka Airshow. This airshow is New Zealand’s biggest airshow and the line up didn’t disappoint. The big draw card for this show was the F16 and the newly restored De Havilland Mosquito. This had to be one of the most picturesque locations for an airshow that I have ever had the opportunity to shoot at. For this airshow, I wanted to concentrate on developing my ability to photograph prop driven planes and get some prop blur. I also wanted to capture the jets with pin sharp focus. I adjusted my settings with 1/100 being the slowest shutter speed and 1/4000 the quickest I used on the day. I managed to get some decent prop blur and a sense of motion in a number of the shots. I also think the sharpness of many of my shots was a lot better than previous attempts at other airshows. Check out the results below.
