Gerringong Surfers 5-7-26
This photo gallery features a collection of surfing and seabird photographs captured at Werri Beach, Gerringong, on 5 June 2026. Jo and I headed down to the coast hoping to spot migrating whales so I could put my new Canon RF 200-800mm lens through its paces. Although the whales didn't make an appearance, the beach provided plenty of other photographic opportunities.
With clean waves rolling into Werri Beach and a steady stream of surfers making the most of the conditions, the long reach of the Canon 200-800mm proved ideal for capturing the action from shore. The gallery includes a variety of surfing images, from riders carving across the waves to moments of balance, speed, and spray that showcase the excitement of the sport.
Between sets, I also turned the lens toward the local seabirds, taking advantage of the impressive focal range to capture detailed wildlife photographs along the shoreline. These images complement the surfing shots and highlight the diverse coastal life found around Gerringong.
Whether you're interested in surf photography, bird photography, or the beautiful scenery of the NSW South Coast, this gallery offers a glimpse of an enjoyable afternoon at Werri Beach.
